About You & Your Work

What is your current role and organization?
I’m currently working as a ML Data Scientist at Apple.

Can you share a bit about your career journey since graduating from the Master of Analytics program?

After completing the coursework for the program, I spent May through August in a MLE internship focused on recommender systems. During that time, I was also actively interviewing, which helped me better understand different teams and roles across the industry. After the program officially concluded, I transitioned into my first full-time role.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy watching Netflix, traveling to different places, reading novels, and spending time chatting with friends. Recently, I’ve also been exploring wildlife photography, which has been a lot of fun to learn.

Connection to the Program

How did the Master of Analytics program help prepare you for your current role?

I think one of the biggest ways the program helped was through its strong alumni network. UC Berkeley has a high level of recognition in the Bay Area, which made it easier to connect with alumni and feel supported as I was preparing to enter the industry.

Reflections & Advice

What advice would you give to prospective or incoming Master of Analytics students?
I would encourage students to proactively look for internships, as they are extremely valuable and provide a great opportunity to understand the industry. In addition, it’s important to maintain a mindset of continuous learning. Take the time to explore different areas of the field, make the most of every interview opportunity, and actively connect with people working in the industry. At the same time, continue learning on your own through various channels. When both your business understanding and technical skills reach a certain level, opportunities will naturally follow.
