Meet your Advisors

Heather Iwata

Heather Iwata oversees IEOR’s Master of Science, Master of Engineering, Master of Analytics and PhD programs.

She holds a B.A. in Communication and Psychology from the University of California, Davis, and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Guidance from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Heather has nearly 20 years of experience in admissions and student affairs in higher education. She has a love for all things Disney and enjoys a good dance party with 90's R&B, hip hop and pop music.

Erica Diffenderfer

Erica focuses on on serving students in IEOR’s Master of Analytics, Master of Engineering,  Master of Science, and PhD programs.

She is originally from Savannah, Georgia. She attended Georgia Southern University, where she earned her BS in Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Before joining Berkeley, Erica taught secondary mathematics and also worked at the University of Florida in admissions and student affairs. Outside of work, she takes advantage of the nice weather and scenic trails in the Bay Area by hiking, running, and camping.
